Fully Rely On God
F.R.O.G.

Do you like
a challenge? Do you like to accomplish (with God’s help) what seems to be
totally impossible? The
WLS chapel offerings for February are earmarked for the LCMS Lutheran Schools in
Liberia project. This project has been undertaken by all of the Lutheran
schools in northeast Indiana.
$24,000 will
build a 7-room school house and put concrete floors into 5 Lutheran schools that
already exist in Liberia. Each school was given a goal- and our goal is to try
to raise $1,200 during the February chapel offerings. Now if you’re at all like
me, when you hear that dollar amount you quietly say ‘there’s no way…..’ Well,
we shall see. We are opening this chapel project to all who would like to make a
contribution. Anyone who feels so moved by the Holy Spirit may send an offering
in to the office, and it will become a part of our total chapel offerings for
February. We in the United States have been so richly blessed in countless
ways. The children in Liberia are in a country that has been involved in a
civil war for over 10 years. These children have never gone to a real school.
Their simple dream is to have a school with cinder block walls, concrete floors,
a few chalkboards and some pieces of chalk. We can be a part of making that
dream come true as we live the words of Matthew 28:19 “Therefore, go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit…” We so appreciate your prayers towards this
important work. ~~Ruth
100th Day
Celebrations
-- all of our kindergartners and our first and second graders participating in a
100th Day celebration. There was a festive mood in the air as the
children counted to 100 in several
ways – made
necklaces of 100 things, shared craft projects of 100 things, and even enjoyed a
snack made of many sets of 100 different snack items. What fun! Our thanks to
the teachers and parents who made this fun day possible! (Can you believe we
only have 80 days of the school year left?)
Recycling

Kingston
Thank You
– We received the following note from the Kingston Nursing Home, where our 4th-8th
Graders played chimes. “Thank you so much for coming to Kinston to perform for
our residents. They loved it. It was such a treat for them to see and hear
your talent and beautiful music at a young age. We hope you can come back
sometime. Your directors have worked hard and it shows. God Bless!” signed

WLS...Come
Grow With Us!
Continued from last
week…
Over the next
several weeks, ten reasons why you should send your children to a Christian
school will be shared by a parent who sends her children to Christian schools
and speaks to thousands of parents on the radio and on tour.
SEVEN: Christian
schools support the family as the number one institution of society. Christian
school educators train students to respect their parents. These educators agree
with the early American patriot, Noah Webster, who said, “All government
originates in families, and if neglected there, it will hardly exist in
society.”
EIGHT:”The
atheists have, for all practical purposes, taken over public education in this
country.” Shocking words, yes, but they were spoken by a prominent public school
educator, Dr. W.P.Schofstall, former Arizona State Superintendent of Schools.
Paradoxically, many public school personnel openly support Christian school
education.
As a matter of fact,
the largest group of parents who send their children to Christian schools are
public school teachers and principals. I conducted a nationwide survey among
these public school educators. The following statement is typical of the
responses I received:
I prefer to send my
children to a Christian school because Christ is central to all information
taught and caught. The public school is basically humanistic and materialistic
in its approach to life and the fundamental questions of human existence and
purpose. The Christian school holds a unique position with the home and the
church.
Hunt Brothers Pizza
– The
Main Street & Country Oasis have offered WLS a great fundraiser. Purchase a
pizza (or 20) from either location, Feb 7-14, cut off the proof-of-purchase and
turn it in to WLS. They will pay us for each one we “proof” we return! It’s
that easy. Think Superbowl!!
Class Trip –
A letter was
sent home with 5th and 6th grade students on Tuesday
asking parents to indicate if they are planning on attending the class trip to
Cincinnati on May 20th & 21st. Please return this form as
soon as you are able.
URGENT:
WLS is still looking for someone to chair the 2010 Golf Outing Fundraiser
and I will be more than happy to help guide you through the process for the 2010
Outing. This truly is a job that requires little more than organization skills
to track everything (and I have that all set up in an Excel spreadsheet) and
communication skills which are mostly needed to place the ads in the school and
church newsletters and to talk with the committee (which I do mainly via
e-mail). In fact, in 2009, our committee never did have a face-to-face meeting;
it was all done by e-mail! I would estimate that, excluding the day of the
outing, I spend a TOTAL (start to finish) of around 40 hours working on this
event. If you might be even remotely interested in doing this, I’d be more than
happy to sit with you to show you want happens behind the scenes before you
commit to taking over. If you can’t get in touch with me, please approach one
of the school board members. Thank you, Sandy Kammeyer (skammeyer1@hotmail.com
or 657-5021).
