Fully Rely On God

      F.R.O.G.

Text Box: WOODBURN LUTHERAN SCHOOL
PAW PRINTS
NOVEMBER13, 2009

Satan tricks man into thinking that he can do everything himself, and that he does not need the Lord. This attitude is especially prevalent in America where people are taught that they should be self-sufficient, only relying on themselves. Society teaches people that they have all the tools they need to do everything for

themselves and that if they need help from anything or anybody they should have a feeling of shame. Sometimes people treat Christians as lesser individuals because they rely on a Higher Being and follow after Him.

In Proverbs 3:5-7 Solomon wrote: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil."

Christians must give their entire life to the Lord and fully rely on Him. They should be very careful of the way of thinking that says that man can do things for himself without the Lord.

WLS...Come Grow With Us!

Parents and students have a multitude of choices to consider when deciding where to enroll. For Christian families, an additional characteristic should be considered—compatibility with their beliefs and lifestyle. Here are some benefits you should consider.

* Relationships are an important part of any educational experience. A Christian school is uniquely equipped to provide positive relationships for its students.

* Christian schools are smaller. A smaller student body allows for better attention from the school's faculty and administration. Size and the tendency of believers to watch out for one another can provide encouragement as well as accountability to a young person facing new challenges and opportunities. Certainly, a public school is interested in encouraging students, but a school with a Christian mission statement will be better equipped to meet these needs. In addition to relationships, a Christian school provides an atmosphere more familiar to Christian students.

* The quality of a Christian educational experience is higher than any other. Christian educators have an additional motivation to do their work with excellence—the call of Christ on their lives to do just that (I Cor. 10:31, Col. 3:17). Quality may also be enhanced by the emphasis on subjects and teaching deemed by God to be of first importance. A biblical focus will inform the manner, content, and even the scope of an educational experience, and Christian schools may be less influenced by cultural (or educational) fads.

* A biblical worldview will see God as the source of truth in mathematics, science, history, and all other disciplines. Christians believe that God not only made all things, but also knows them intimately. Therefore, His lordship over our studies is not limited to biblical studies.

Not all students have the same needs, not even all Christian students. For many, though, a solid Christian school will be the right choice. A Christian school can provide a positive educational experience and a strong biblical foundation for all the things God will call upon them to do in the years that follow.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD – Operation Christmas Child will be wrapping up soon!  All shoeboxes must be at WLS by Wednesday, November 18.  Please be sure all boxes are wrapped so that the lids can be taken off.  A large rubber band holding it together can be used.  No liquid items should be in the box, due to the possibility of leaking during shipping.  Seven dollars can be enclosed to offset the shipping costs.  A flier with instructions and labels are coming home today as well.  We have received 21 boxes of our 75-box goal!
